Spotify.com

Over the summer, my friend showed me a new music streaming program called Spotify. He said that he had to use a UK proxy to register and download it, as it is not released in the US yet. I tried several times to follow his instructions, but never had any luck registering for it. Recently, my desktop has been crashing frequently, so I’ve been using my hackintosh laptop for the majority of my computer use – and, unfortunately, it has no music on it. I was about to head over to LaLa and stream the few songs I have saved on it, when I decided to try Spotify one more time. I googled a little and came across the proxy nocencorship.co.uk. I figured it can’t hurt to give it a try so I put in “http://www.spotify.com” and was redirected to Spotify’s site, with the option to register – bingo, we’re in. I clicked to register, and was informed I needed an invitation code. I googled a little bit more, and came across an alternative link that bypasses the need for an invitation code – https://www.spotify.com/en/get-started/. I entered that into the proxy, and I was able to register and download the desktop application for my hackintosh install. I’ve been using it for the past hour, and although some songs are missing, overall, its amazing – I can listen to pretty much any song I want with a quick search, create playlists, and browse the top songs. It’s definitely a great alternative to iTunes, especially if you don’t have any music on your computer.

Here’s the link to the registration page already going through the proxy – Spotify. Even though it appears to be a UK proxy, its actually a French site, so you need a French postal code – 75008. Finally, because its the free version, you will receive ads in French occasionally while listening. Otherwise, enjoy the free music that Spotify has to offer.
